American Public Works Association
David Lawry is the President of the American Public Works Association. Lawry has been a member of the APWA Chicago Metro Chapter since 1989, and has served in all of officer positions at both the branch and chapter levels, including Chapter President in 2007 and Chapter Delegate in 2008. He has served on various chapter committees and remains on the steering committee for the Illinois Public Service Institute. Along with his service to APWA, Lawry is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Water Works Association. Lawry was a Top Ten Public Works Leader of the Year recipient in 2012. Lawry is a former local agency employee having worked for the City of Elgin, the Village of Wauconda and the Village of Schaumburg from where he retired in 2017.
