Denisha Merriweather

Biography

Denisha Merriweather is a politically appointed liaison for Youth and School Choice related matters in the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Communications and Outreach. Merriweather started her career advocating for more education options when she was in middle school living in Florida. She became an influential speaker at events with Florida governors and other elected officials, and the national symbol for school choice with appearances on FOX News, the Republican National Convention, the Espy’ s, and more.

Most recently, she served as the family advocate at Step Up for Students, one of the distributors of the Florida Tax-Credit Scholarship. Merriweather holds a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Social Science on Juvenile Justice from the University of West Florida and a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of South Florida.
