Health & Safety Protocol

Safety & Well-being

As the National League of Cities prepares to gather for its first in-person event in nearly two years, our top priority remains the health and safety of our NLC community.

NLC is committed to complying with the District of Columbia’s health guidelines to ensure Congressional City Conference events follow all required local protocols. Based on guidelines provided by the DC Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, all attendees are required to wear masks while in NLC conference spaces.

The outlined health and safety protocols are required of all conference attendees including general attendees, contractors, speakers, sponsors, guests and staff.

Indoor Mask Requirement

All attendees at the conference must wear a face mask while participating in NLC conference events including receptions, general sessions, and workshops unless they are actively eating and drinking.

This policy is in keeping with the CDC recommendation that all individuals in high transmission environments wear a mask indoors. Since CCC will have attendees from across the nation, some who are traveling from high transmission environments, NLC is requiring masks in these conference events.

COVID Testing

At this time, NLC does not plan to require testing prior to entry to the conference. We continue to monitor this situation and will revise this policy as necessary.

Everyone registered for the conference will be provided with two COVID-19 self-administered tests upon arrival. NLC advises participants to test prior to attending a conference event and 2-3 days following arrival or if you don’t feel well. Anyone who experiences symptoms of COVID-19 should immediately isolate in their hotel room and contact a staff person.

Physical Distancing

All attendees will be instructed to observe physical distancing as much as is feasible at the conference.

NLC recognizes the fast-changing landscape of the pandemic and continues to monitor the situation and will adjust our health and safety protocols accordingly.

What to Expect Onsite at CCC

Hand sanitization stations will be placed throughout the event space to encourage frequent hand sanitization.

CCC will be declared a “no handshake” event and attendees will be encouraged to offer other types of no-touch greetings.

Our headquarter hotel, the Marriott Marquis, has increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfection, particularly in areas with high traffic including restrooms, elevators, and escalators as well as provided more hand sanitizing stations.
