Afterschool Policy Advisors Network (APAN) Luncheon

12:15 pm - 1:30 pm
March 12, 2018

Are public safety, workforce preparedness, and youth success part of your city’s priorities? If yes, then afterschool and summer learning programs are an important strategy to support your city’s children, youth, their working families, and economic vitality. Did you know that many federal grants that provide cities financial support for afterschool, summer programs, and community schools are threatened? Come to the Afterschool Policy Advisors’ Network (APAN) Luncheon to learn more. Guest speakers Jodi Grant, Executive Director of the Afterschool Alliance, and Jose Munoz, Director of the Coalition for Community Schools, will provide a federal policy and funding update, including the President’s budget that threatens to eliminate $1.2 Billion in federal funding specifically for afterschool, and tips on how you can help #fightthecuts. City officials will gain access to new communication materials to make the case for afterschool, as well as hear how peer municipal leaders are promoting afterschool locally. Free, non-ticketed hot buffet lunch provided. Space is limited. Register here.  All conference attendees are welcome to join NLC’s Institute for Youth, Education, and Families’ (YEF) APAN Luncheon. Registered elected officials and city staff get first priority. Direct questions to
