Session
Closing the Digital Divide: Leveraging Federal Resources for Broadband, Digital Equity
Time: 10:15 am - 11:30 am
Date: March 14, 2022
Location: Independence Salon D
Description
• Learn about federal resources for broadband infrastructure and digital equity.
• Find out how other local leaders are using federal resources most effectively in their communities.
• Understand what additional non-federal resources are available for addressing the digital divide.
Across the country, local leaders are making public commitments to closing the broadband infrastructure and digital equity gaps in their communities. Now there are more federal resources than ever before to help communities reach this goal. The new Final Rule for the American Rescue Plan Act’s State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund allows expanded flexibility for broadband investment, and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law makes a historic $65 billion federal investment in broadband infrastructure, affordability, and digital inclusion. In this session, participants will hear from federal officials, national experts, and local leaders about available funding and assistance, plus best practices for maximizing the value of these resources in your community.
