Mayors Challenge to End Veteran Homelessness Forum: Landlord Recruitment

11:00 am - 1:00 pm
March 11, 2018

The historic progress on Veteran homeless continues in most cities across the nation. Since 2010, Veteran homelessness has declined by an unprecedented 46 percent.

Despite this progress, 2017 saw a marginal increase in Veteran homelessness with the on-going crisis of affordable housing cited as the main reason. In the face of rising rents, many communities are struggling with recruiting landlords to accept housing subsidies. In the short-term, creating access to the existing stock of housing is essential for the progress on Veteran homelessness to continue.

Join the Mayors Challenge to End Veteran Homelessness session to hear about best practices for recruiting landlords in your community. Panelists will include Mayor John Suthers of Colorado Springs, CO, as well as representatives from the National Apartment Association, the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Lunch will be served, but space is limited, so RSVPs are requested to

  • Matthew Doherty Executive Director - US Interagency Council on Homelessness
  • Lori Trainer Speaker - National Apartment Association / Pinnacle Living
  • Robert Melvin Manager, Government Affairs - National Apartment Association
  • Anthony Love Senior Advisor/Director of Community Engagement - U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
