NLC Capitol Hill Advocacy Day

8:00 am - 4:00 pm
March 14, 2018

We’ve reserved Wednesday for you to do the important work of meeting with your members of Congress to advocate for the priorities of cities. You will be prepared by NLC prior to your Hill visit with materials, talking points, and tips to ensure your meeting is smooth and effective.

You can sign up for a Hill meeting during the conference registration process and we will handle the scheduling for you. Please note that we have a limited number of appointments available through our scheduling system – if you are not able to schedule your meeting directly through NLC’s registration process, we will guide you in how to set up a meeting for yourself.

Getting To Capitol Hill By Metro
Metro maps will be available at the hotel concierge desk or can be found by going to Metro’s website at www.wmata.com. Using the Metro maps, follow the directions below to reach Capitol Hill.

House of Representatives Side (south side of the Capitol) – Capitol South Metro Station
Board the Red Line at the Woodley Park Metro station, just down the hill from the Marriott Wardman Park (going in the direction of Glenmont or Silver Spring). Transfer from the Red Line at the Metro Center Metro station, and take either the Blue, Orange or Silver Line (going in the direction of Largo or New Carrollton) to the Capitol South Metro station. The Capitol South Metro station entrance is on the Northwest corner of First Street SE and C Street SE. This will drop you off on the House side of the Capitol Building near the Rayburn, Longworth and Cannon House Office Buildings.

Senate Side (north side of the Capitol) – Union Station Metro Station
Board the Red Line at the Woodley Park Metro station, just down the hill from the Marriott Wardman Park (going in the direction of Glenmont or Silver Spring), and take it to the Union Station Metro station. Exit the station using the Union Station Shops exit. From Union Station, cross Columbus Circle and walk up First Street SE to the Russell, Dirksen, and Hart Senate Office Buildings as you face the Capitol Building. First Street SE is to the far left of Union Station, as you face the Capitol Building.

Capitol Hill Advocacy Day participants are welcome to store/check their luggage in the first-floor conference center of the NLC office building between 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The NLC office is located at 660 North Capitol Street NW – a few blocks from the Senate Side of Capitol Hill and Union Station.
