Betsy A. Miller is Co-Chair of the Public Client practice group at Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll. Miller represents state Attorneys General, counties, and cities in civil law enforcement investigations and litigation involving consumer protection, Medicaid fraud, and other areas of enforcement that protect government interests and vulnerable communities. Miller currently represents the states of Indiana and New Jersey in their opioid investigations and litigation. Prior to joining Cohen Milstein, Miller served as the Chief of Staff and Senior Counsel to the Attorney General for the District of Columbia. Before entering local government, Miller worked for the international law firm of Jones Day. Earlier in her career, Betsy served as a Nominations Counsel for Senator Patrick J. Leahy (D-VT) on the Senate Judiciary Committee, where she was responsible for handling confirmation hearings on presidential nominations to the judiciary, the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Attorney’s Offices. Miller teaches courses on negotiation and mediation skills at Georgetown Law School, where she has served as an adjunct professor since 2001. Miller also holds a certificate in leadership coaching from Georgetown University. Miller received her A.B. in Comparative Literature and Spanish from Dartmouth College and her J.D. from Harvard Law School.
