Brent Parton is a Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Labor where he advises leadership on a range of workforce issues and leaders the development of national industry partnerships. Before joining the Department, Parton was the deputy director of the Center on Education & Labor at New America where his work focused on federal, state and local workforce policy, programs and innovations, including founding the Partnership to Advance Youth Apprenticeship. He has over a decade of experience working on workforce at the federal and state level, including during his previous time at the Department of Labor as well as Director or for Workforce and Economic Development at National Governors Association Center for Best Practices. Parton also consulted on education lending at the World Bank, led a start-up, advocacy organization focused on health policy, and taught English in Shenzhen, China. Parton has a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in international education policy, both from Vanderbilt University, where he is also an adjunct professor.
