David Banks has worked for the National Park Service (NPS) over 30 years in various capacities, all involving the management of the national historic preservation programs. Banks developed the Tribal Heritage Grant program and assisted in developing the Save America’s Treasures grant program and the Preserve America grant program.  Banks has been involved in the development of the Certified Local Government program, Secretary of the Interiors planning standards, the Secretary of the Interior Historic Preservation Awards program, and edited the “Keepers of the Treasures: Protecting Historic Properties and Cultural Traditions on Indian Lands,” which is a report submitted to Congress on Tribal preservation funding needs. Banks received a BS in Geography from Texas A&M University, and a MS in Urban Planning from the University of Virginia.
