Gary Resnick

Gary Resnick was first elected Mayor in 2008, and overwhelmingly won re-election in 2010, 2012 and 2014. Resnick was first elected to the City Commission in March 1998. In March 2000, the City Commission unanimously selected him as Vice Mayor. Gary was re-elected to the Commission in 2002 and in 2006. Resnick graduated from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Economics and received his Juris Doctor with honors from Rutgers University School of Law in New Jersey, his native State. Resnick moved from Washington, DC to Florida in the 1990s and is currently a shareholder in the law firm GrayRobinson, PA in its Fort Lauderdale office. The South Florida Legal Guide has named Resnick one of the top lawyers in South Florida and he has been featured in the South Florida Daily Business Review as one of the prominent attorneys in the State. Resnick was also appointed to the Federal Communications Commission’s Intergovernmental Advisory Committee. Mayor Resnick also serves on the National League of Cities Information Technology and Communications Steering Committee and on NLC’s Legal Advisory Committee, advising NLC on which cases to support appeals to the US Supreme Court.
