National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s (NTIA) BroadbandUSA Program

Katherine Bates is Manager of State and Local Partnerships for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s (NTIA) BroadbandUSA program. In this capacity, Ms. Bates works with state and local government representatives to increase broadband deployment and use throughout the United States. Before coming to BroadbandUSA, she worked with the with the large library systems on E-rate modernization and ICF International, a global consulting firm, where she focused on broadband planning, training and technical assistance. Prior to those positions, she worked at a national association representing municipal interests, focusing her efforts on information technology, broadband policy and community and economic development, and also at various state and local governments. Her work has allowed her to engage national, state and local leaders to help shape national policies on telecommunications and community development. Ms. Bates received her Bachelors in Business and Master of Public Administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
