Kimberly Helm engages with key national, non-governmental community partners that serve populations that may be traditionally under-served or underutilized before, during, or after disasters and supports coordination across key internal offices to provide visibility on agency activities, facilitate coordination of whole community engagement, and ensure representation of stakeholder interests. Prior to joining FEMA, Helm worked for 6 years with the Peace Corps as a Country Desk Officer and an Outreach and Assessment Specialist for the Northeast Regional office. As a Country Desk Officer, she managed field operations and incoming Volunteer training classes for Guatemala, Mexico, and Panama. Helm served with the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic from 2005 to 2008 as a Basic and Special Education Teacher Trainer. Before joining Peace Corps as a Volunteer, Helm worked at Reading Area Community College from 2002 to 2005 as the Coordinator of Recruitment, an Academic Counselor, and Adjunct Faculty Member. She has received a M.A. in International Training and Education program at American University, M.A. in Counseling Psychology at Kutztown University, and B.S. in Audiology/Speech Pathology at Bloomsburg University.
