Rachel Hundley

Rachel Hundley was elected to the City Council in 2014 and held the position of Mayor in 2017 during the devastating wild fires that swept across Northern California. A native of the Deep South, Rachel earned three undergraduate degrees from the University of Georgia and a law degree from the University of North Carolina. After working as a commercial litigation attorney in New York City, she headed west to pursue a different dream: entrepreneurship.

Rachel chose Sonoma, California as her new home, where she started Drums & Crumbs, a fried chicken food truck and catering business most often seen in San Francisco. Eighteen months later, Rachel was elected to the City Council where she has advocated for modern housing solutions, economic diversity and water sustainability. In the wake of the October 2017 fires, Rachel was the force behind expanding housing opportunities for persons displaced by the fires and a coordinated economic assessment and response by organizations representing local businesses, wine and tourism.

In her spare time, Rachel still practices law and recently joined the Municipalities and Special Districts practice group at Meyers Nave in Oakland, California.
