Councilwoman Rebecca J. Viagran is a San Antonio native whose family has left a 200 year legacy in San Antonio and in South Texas. With deep ties to the Southside community Rebecca made a commitment at a very young age to serve others especially those in her neighborhood. Councilwoman Viagran graduated from Texas State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in urban and regional planning. She then attended St. Mary’s University, earning a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. She was first elected to City Council District 3 in May 2013, and handily won re-election in 2015 and 2017.

Today Councilwoman Viagran serves as the Chair of the Economic and Workforce Development committee for the City of San Antonio and sits as Co-Chair on the committee for the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation (SAEDF) International Advisory Council, the President of the San Antonio Housing Trust Public Facility, President, Visit San Antonio, National League of Cities Board of Directors and various others as a way to serve the entire City of San Antonio. Later this month Rebecca will be inducted to the San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame for her public service.

Councilwoman Viagran continues to work towards providing opportunities for prosperity, public safety, and progress for the residents of District 3. Because of her strong roots to this community, it is her vision to enrich the district with more places to live, work, play, learn and thrive.
